Annotation & Mark-up Tools

The Nitro Pro text mark-up tools let you mark-up a PDF file, just as if you were marking-up a printed document. You can add comments to pages as sticky notes, text highlighting, drawing markups, stamps, and file attachments. All commenting and drawing tools are accessible from the Review tab. An annotation comment is a non-destructive element, which is added as an extra layer over the page of your PDF, and can be removed at any time. When you print a PDF file, you can choose to make all text mark-ups visible or hidden.

Marking-up a document helps draw attention to text that requires revision. These tools allow you to mark-up a document without printing it out.

How to Mark-up Text:

  1. Adding a Comment

    1. Click the down arrow next to Annotate button in the Toolbar to reveal the tools.
    2. Select the Comments tool.
    3. Click in the page location where you’d like to place a comment. You can also click and drag initially in order to size the comment when you place it.
    4. Once your comment is placed, just type over the text that appears.
    5. With either the Edit Tool or the Select Text Tool as the current tool, you can double-click a comment to edit it.

TIP: You can double-click a tool to lock it on and use it continuously. This is helpful when adding multiple notes and/or comments. Click the Edit tool to unlock your tool (Command+2). To turn the automatic continuous use feature on or off, see Preferences for details. Use the Object Properties menu to adjust the color and styling of your comment text box. (Object Properties).

To Delete Annotations:

  1. To remove mark-up annotations from the document, right-click on the annotation, and select Delete from the menu.
