Two-Factor Authentication (SMS)

For an added level of security in eSigning workflows, users can choose to add two-factor authentication with SMS delivery to signature requests. This will require recipients to enter a secure access code that they receive by SMS before they can view or sign the shared document.

Use two-factor authentication to validate the identity of the recipient prior to signing.

To enable two-factor authentication using SMS:

1.  Initiate a Signature Request by uploading a document to Nitro Sign.

2.  Enter the recipient’s name and email in the provided fields.

3.  To add two-factor authentication, click +Add access authentication.

4.  Select SMS from the drop-down menu.

5.  Choose the country code for the mobile number, and enter the mobile number, then click Add.

6.  Complete the Signature Request workflow, as normal.

Signer’s Experience:  Two-Factor Authentication

1.  After the signature request has been sent, the signer will receive an email notification containing a link to the document.

2.  Upon clicking the link, the signer will be redirected to a page where they are prompted to receive an access code via SMS by clicking Send SMS.

3.  Clicking Send SMS will deliver a unique access code via SMS to the signer’s mobile phone.

4.  After successfully entering the access code, the recipient can now view and sign the document.  Entry of an incorrect code will prevent access to the document.
